Overview
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (Rutgers) seeks a Seminar Facilitator for the Center for Government Services (CGS). The role represents Rutgers and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Bureau of Code Services at Uniform Construction Code (UCC) seminars scheduled online and in-person across the state.
Key Responsibilities- Contact instructors prior to seminars to provide login information and assistance with uploading materials.
- Open and manage the online learning platform to allow students to enter the seminar.
- Create and enforce Rutgers/DCA policies and procedures regarding seminar attendance and student conduct.
- Troubleshoot login, audio and other technical issues for instructors and students.
- Answer student questions about the licensing process and refer to appropriate resources.
- Monitor student attendance and seminar attendee list/chat for questions.
- Mute microphones as needed to maintain seminar quality.
- Arrive to in‑person training sites early to set up rooms and coffee, set up audiovisual equipment, deliver handouts, conduct check‑in, collect payments, certify certificates, collect CEU cards and evaluations.
- Report findings to the office and provide completed documentation.
Hourly rate: $16.00–$18.00 per hour. Position is part‑time up to 19.5 hours per week, typically 34 hours during the fall and spring semesters.

Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent education and/or clerical experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable, able to present in front of large audiences.
- Strong familiarity with Internet browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Explorer) and virtual learning platforms.
- Past experience with the Uniform Construction Code (preferred).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be available to work during the fall and spring semesters and up to 4 consecutive days a week.
- Must have reliable vehicle or other transportation.
- Must travel to the central office (New Brunswick) for pickups, in‑person facilitation, and occasional overnight stays.
- Clean driving record.
Hybrid work arrangement possible; fully remote requires additional approvals. Department‑head approval is required for hybrid; a feasibility assessment is required for remote work.
