Sessional Lecturer, INF
1325H – Online Information Retrieval, Summer Term 2026 – Session F (May – June).
This course focuses on the principles and methods of information retrieval through academic and professional database searching. Characteristics of database organization, structure, and content, question analysis, search development and translation, and database selection are investigated. Will include a critical examination of major vendors and their systems. Emerging themes and issues relating to online information retrieval will be addressed.
Note:
Weekly in‑class activities require use of a laptop.
Estimated enrollment: 35. TA support:
None anticipated unless enrollment ≥ 36, estimate of 75 hours.
TBD. Must be located in close proximity to University premises to attend and perform duties as of the starting date.
Sessional Dates of AppointmentMay 1, 2026 – June 31, 2026.
SalarySessional Lecturer I: $10,696. Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $11,445. Sessional Lecturer II: $11,445. Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $11,713. Sessional Lecturer III: $11,713. Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $11,986.
QualificationsPreferably completed or nearly completed PhD in a related area or a Master’s plus extensive professional experience. Teaching experience preferred.

- Developing and administering assignments, tests & exams

- Holding regular office hours
