Virtual Learning Assistant, Unbound Academy; Remote

Overview

This role is centered on helping students stay engaged, confident, and excited to participate—without the burden of grading or curriculum design.

Unbound Academy is a tuition-free virtual charter school that replaces traditional worksheets with experiential learning and prioritizes personal development. Students complete their academic work in two concentrated hours using AI-driven platforms. The remainder of their day is devoted to immersive workshops designed to build life skills, nurture curiosity, and strengthen self-confidence.

• Facilitating live virtual workshops by coordinating breakout rooms, managing transitions, and overseeing group activities
• Encouraging student participation and motivation through chat messages, recognition, and one-on-one engagement
• Keeping learners engaged, confident, and connected throughout their instructional time
• Providing logistical support to lead educators to ensure workshops run without interruption
• Serving as a culture champion and reliable presence within student clubs and life skills programming

• Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject matter
• Developing lesson plans or evaluating student work
• Building curriculum or independently facilitating workshops
• Observing passively—this role requires active, energetic involvement

Facilitate engaging, virtual learning environments by ensuring students remain focused, organized, and motivated during each workshop.

• Available to work Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm US Mountain Time (UTC-7)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or guiding youth
• Educational experience in US, Canadian, or UK school systems (K-16)—must have attended school in one of these countries (current location may be anywhere)
• Excellent communication skills and confidence using digital tools
• Energetic, student-centered demeanor with attention to detail and smooth session flow

• Familiarity with online education platforms or youth development programs
• Experience in summer camp settings, after-school programming, or student club leadership

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $20 USD/hour, which equates to $40,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
