Academic Advisor, Part-Time & Online Program Administration

The position supports the academic progress, retention, and successful program completion of students enrolled in the part‑time and online programs offered at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. The role also assists in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of program advisement protocols and initiatives that enhance the value and effectiveness of services provided by the Program Office. The incumbent will be based at the West LA campus and may be required to travel to other graduate campus locations on occasion.

Duties
  • Maintain an advisement caseload of students enrolled in various part‑time programs designed for fully employed students at the Graziadio School. Provide guidance on academic requirements, procedures, policies, and deadlines.
  • Serve as primary student contact point for designated part‑time programs on academic and administrative matters, including new student enrollment, program advisement, course scheduling and registration, and special petitions; make interdepartmental referrals when appropriate.
  • Regularly monitor and update student academic status through the use of University student record databases and document management tools.
  • In collaboration with the Program Office, develop and implement activities at our graduate campuses to promote engagement, affiliation, and community building among PGBS students, faculty, and staff.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with the Offices of Recruitment and Admission to facilitate the matriculation process for newly admitted students. Document communication/interactions with students and provide updates as requested.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of student issues by obtaining information from relevant parties, retrieving academic records, documenting pertinent communication, and engaging key stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned, including assisting in the planning, design, and execution of events (e.g. New Student Orientation, Commencement, etc).
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with college/university environment; knowledge of basic counseling/helping techniques and their application to educational settings.
  • Prior experience (2 or more years) as an academic advisor/counselor or a similar role, serving student populations from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and service orientation.
  • High capacity for collaborating in a team environment.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately assess situations and communicate them clearly to others.
  • Flexibility in work schedule, which may include some evening/weekend hours.
  • Competency with standard business equipment and softwares (Microsoft Office products, Google‑based tools); comfort using modern communication technology, including tele‑ and web‑conferencing softwares.
Preferred
  • Masters degree in Education, Counseling, Human Development, or other related areas.
  • Experience working with non‑traditional students (specifically working adults) pursuing professional degrees; experience creating and providing academic support resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices related to academic program operations;
    Understanding of the cross‑departmental interdependencies within an academic environment.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate new software and commercial databases appropriate to the part‑time portal and web sites; familiarity with the context of business and management education.
  • Experience with student information systems, such as People Soft.
