Job Overview
You have built expertise in persuasion. Now you will prepare talented students who are determined to win—not simply improve their speaking skills. If you bring proven debate credentials and can coach effectively under pressure, this opportunity will suit you well.
Responsibilities- Lead 2–4 live virtual debate sessions per week that are dynamic, participatory, and centered on active student debate practice.
- Prepare tournament‑ready students using mock rounds, targeted drills, and individualized feedback specific to their format and approach.
- Deconstruct sophisticated argumentation, cross‑examination techniques, and rebuttal tactics into structured, learnable components.
- Support research and evidence development so students construct more compelling cases that reflect current topics and competitive standards.
- Develop and improve reusable instructional materials, topic summaries, and evaluation rubrics that elevate program quality.
- Deliver general public speaking or confidence‑building classes disconnected from measurable competitive results.
- Conduct lecture‑based sessions where students remain passive observers rather than active participants in debate.
- Provide generalized feedback that disregards judging standards, scoring systems, and format‑specific tactics.
- Produce single‑use resources that cannot be adapted or that lag behind evolving topics and competitive expectations.
- Documented elite debate accomplishments (awards, rankings, finalist positions) and/or a demonstrated history of coaching victorious students or teams.
- A minimum of 6 months in teaching, coaching, or mentoring roles with demonstrable results.
- Comprehensive understanding of competitive debate structures, judging standards, and tournament protocols.
- Capacity to deliver compelling, on‑camera virtual instruction with strong screen presence and clarity.
- Availability to contribute 5–10 hours weekly in a completely remote environment.
- Dependable internet connectivity and professional‑grade video and audio equipment.
- Portfolio, outcomes, or certifications that verify competitive debate background.
