The Medical University of South Carolina's Department of Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenured faculty position (open rank) to serve as a core member of the Physical Therapy Doctorate (DPT) Program in a hybrid format. This eight-semester DPT program combines online and on-campus activities and offers the same curriculum as the residential program. This hybrid role allows the faculty member to work remotely from their location;
however, DPT faculty must be able to travel to and stay in Charleston at scheduled times each semester for teaching and required program events. The successful candidate is expected to enhance current teaching and mentoring efforts within the DPT program, develop a scholarly agenda, and engage in community and professional service appropriate for the faculty rank. Licensure in South Carolina is necessary for all faculty members in the MUSC hybrid DPT program.
We aim to fill a hybrid faculty position with diverse specialties, backgrounds, and expertise that cover the full scope of the DPT curriculum in primary care musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Core faculty in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program are expected to teach an agreed-upon workload within their area of expertise to address the division's needs. We seek candidates who are leading in advancing physical therapy education through innovative teaching models that enhance student learning.
Ideally, we seek a collegial individual with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT) with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) or other certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities. This is a non-tenured track faculty position with a salary and rank commensurate with qualifications.
Candidates from all clinical and teaching backgrounds relevant to rehabilitation will be fully considered. Candidates for Assistant or Associate must have a proven track record of scholarship, graduate student advising, and teaching at the Doctoral level, consistent with MUSC-ranked faculty. Ideal candidates would identify with the MUSC College of Health Professions’ core values:
Collaboration, Creativity, Diversity, Excellence, and Integrity.
Qualified applicants may apply online at .
Jobs.musc.edu. Applications must include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and three professional references (letters and names). Applications will be reviewed immediately and continue until all core faculty positions are filled. All inquiries will be confidential. For more specific information related to the duties and responsibilities of core faculty in this posting, contact Dr. Megan Donaldson, Chair of the Search Committee, at donaldsm.
