We are seeking an experienced and nimble Instructional Designer to join our growing Innovation and Emerging Technologies team. Every day you'll make a difference in the lives of others by creating impactful, high-quality online learning experiences that reach learners around the world and remove barriers to higher education.
ASU has partnered with the United States military to reimagine their learning ecosystem and to encourage and promote lifelong learning during a service member's time in and out of the uniform. In this exciting role, you'll collaborate closely with faculty, instructors, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to design and develop engaging, learner-centered experiences. You'll apply proven instructional design methodologies and adult learning theories to co-create content and experiences that resonate with learners across the globe and lifespan, all while optimizing workflows and processes to support scalable, efficient development.
While a deep knowledge of the U.S. military is not necessary to be successful in this role, you will need to be passionate about innovation, design thinking, prototyping, and access to education; additionally, you will need to love working on complex, innovative, high-visibility projects that push the status quo.

Essential Duties:
- Collaborate with faculty, instructors, and cross-functional teams to design scalable, engaging, and pedagogically sound learning experiences across multiple projects.
- Recommend and apply innovative pedagogical approaches and digital tools to enhance online teaching and learning.
- Develop engaging instructional resources, including interactive content, multimedia, and digital learning objects.
- Use authoring tools, multimedia applications, and presentation platforms to create custom online learning solutions.
- Support cross-team communication by sharing best practices and keeping stakeholders informed of instructional technology developments.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for online teaching and learning.
- Create training materials and job aids to support faculty and teams in instructional design and learning technologies.
- Assume or coordinate other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
NOTE
:
This is not a fully remote position. Must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale, Arizona.
Desired
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience designing, developing, and revising online courses using learning theory and multiple learning management systems. (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, edX, Coursera).
- Proven ability to support multiple projects by managing timelines, resolving technical issues, and following established standards and processes.
- Demonstrated strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with faculty and cross-functional teams; clearly conveys ideas in written, visual, and verbal formats.
- Demonstrated adaptable self-starter with experience shifting priorities and thriving in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to travel
