Overview
The mission of the Colorado Energy Office (CEO) is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and consumer energy costs by advancing clean energy, energy efficiency and zero emission vehicles to benefit all Coloradans. CEO currently has an opening for a Communications & Engagement Specialist to join the Communications and Engagement (C&E) team to focus on transportation electrification. A key strategy to reduce emissions in Colorado is electrifying the transportation sector by providing direct funding for the installation of charging stations, supporting incentives to purchase EVs and e-bikes, and educating and supporting consumers and vehicle fleets on environmental and financial benefits of EVs.
ResponsibilitiesWork on communications, marketing, outreach, and engagement efforts related to CEO’s transportation electrification work, including engaging with traditional media, in-person and virtual meetings, presentations, events, collateral development, email campaigns, newsletters, and vendor management.
Build relationships through community engagement with government agencies, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), potential program applicants (organizations and individuals), and disproportionately impacted communities (DICs).
Travel up to 15% of the time within Colorado to advance transportation electrification efforts.
Lead outreach and engagement activities and initiatives to advance statewide transportation programs.
Represent CEO at community-facing events, liaise with public and internal stakeholders, and coordinate responses to inquiries from the public, stakeholders, and the media related to transportation electrification.
Draft and review communications and engagement products to ensure CEO messaging is compelling, plainspoken, and consistent; ensure digital accessibility and brand guideline compliance.
Manage the ReCharge Colorado program including procurement, contracts, invoices, scopes of work, deliverable reviews, and contractor performance to achieve program goals.
Coordinate with ReCharge coaches and the ReCharge Equity Advisor to enhance community connections and events with an equity focus.
Direct coaching activities to stay responsive to market and community needs.
Professional outreach and stakeholder engagement experience in Colorado, with work with disproportionately impacted communities.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Sciences or related field; substitutions: additional professional experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum three years of professional communications, outreach, and/or stakeholder engagement experience or seven years without a degree.
Experience planning and implementing successful communications and engagement strategies.
Strong computer skills (Google Suite or Microsoft Office) and video conferencing applications.
Proven track record of building and managing relationships across diverse stakeholder groups; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable working with multiple reporting lines and content areas; strong time management and attention to detail.
Experience managing contracts and supporting contractors’ implementation of programs; valid driver’s license; ability to travel up to 15%; flexibility for periodic weekends/evenings/overnight travel.
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (writing, reading, and oral).
Experience working on transportation and/or climate issues; experience with digital accessibility.
Experience with Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, and Google Workspace; experience with media relations and interviews.
