Position: Pupil Premium Support Officer

About this Role

  • Work directly with students, colleagues and families—individually and in groups—to deliver targeted intervention and support that strengthens participation, independence and learning skills, while maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement.
  • Liaise with parents and carers regularly to encourage attendance, engagement and participation in key school events, and to discuss academic outcomes, behaviour, progress and barriers to learning.
  • Monitor, support and intervene in the social and emotional development of targeted students, ensuring early identification of emerging needs.
  • Undertake home visits and occasionally meeting families in the community away from school where necessary.
  • Support the delivery of intervention programmes, including reading, literacy and numeracy support, ensuring disadvantaged students access high quality provision.
  • Undertake home visits or occasionally meeting families in the community away from school, where necessary and in coordination with the Home School Link worker.
  • Raise expectations and aspirations by supporting careers guidance activities, employer encounters and enrichment events for disadvantaged students.
  • Mentor disadvantaged students, providing both practical support and developmental guidance to build confidence, resilience and self-regulation.
  • Work closely with our Pupil Premium Co‑ordinator Ordinator to support disadvantaged students’ participation in wider school life, including equipment and uniform provision, leadership opportunities, representation roles, trips and visits.
  • Maintain oversight of a clear and accurate participation register, coordinating timely intervention where engagement is low or inconsistent.
  • Monitor access to and take‑up of Free School Meals, coordinating follow‑up and support where needed.
  • Prepare, analyse and interpret data relevant to intervention needs, including exam outcomes, KAP results, effort data, behaviour and reward data, and Satchel usage.
  • Liaise with external agencies to ensure swift and effective access to statutory and voluntary services that support disadvantaged students and their families.
  • Maintain accurate records of meetings, contacts and actions, ensuring clear documentation of support, intervention and impact.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English and Maths) or equivalent.
  • Require a technical/professional qualification if appropriate related to the role. e.g. HLTA status, NNEB, or other relevant qualifications at level 2 or 3.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competence with IT tools and ability to analyse and present data.
  • Experience working in a similar role within education or SEND environments.
  • Proven organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
