Position: Math Olympiad Coach - Part-Time, gt.school (Remote) - $37,500/year USD

Overview

Your background includes solving challenging problems. Now apply that expertise to support talented students who compete, advance, and succeed. GT School serves families seeking outcomes beyond standard academic performance. We prepare gifted learners through authentic challenges: participation in national and international competitions, transparent results, and accomplishments that carry lasting value. This position is essential because our math curriculum succeeds only when students emerge from sessions more capable, confident, and prepared for competitive scenarios.

This is not a standard tutoring position. You will conduct live virtual workshops designed to challenge high-performing students, deliver focused preparation for competitions such as AMC and AIME, and develop reusable instructional resources that elevate standards across GT Anywhere and GT campuses. If you excel at converting potential into documented results and can present complex concepts with precision, this role will suit you well.

If you possess a verifiable track record of mathematical excellence and wish to contribute to developing the next generation of champions, we welcome your application.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Plan and facilitate 2–4 live virtual domain workshops weekly that develop competition-grade mathematical reasoning
  • Provide 1:1 or small-group coaching for specific competitions through mock examinations, timed exercises, and comprehensive feedback
  • Identify weaknesses quickly and develop individualized growth plans aligned with each student's objectives and competition schedule
  • Monitor student advancement using a structured math development framework and modify teaching methods based on performance data
  • Produce original, challenging problem sets and modular instructional materials designed for reuse by other educators at scale
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Provide generic homework assistance or grade-focused tutoring lacking defined, measurable results
  • Conduct conventional classroom-format lessons limited to standard curriculum boundaries
  • Offer unstructured problem-solving practice without strategy, feedback mechanisms, or competitive preparation pathway
  • Rely on duplicated or insufficiently rigorous materials that fail to meet competitive mathematics standards

  • Comprehensive knowledge of math competition structures, content areas, and preparation methods (e.g., AMC, AIME, Olympiads)
  • Effective virtual instruction presence and capacity to maintain student engagement through video
  • Availability for 5–10 hours weekly
  • Dependable internet connection and professional-quality video equipment
Nice-to-have Requirements
  • Current, ongoing participation as a competitor, coach, or creator of competition-oriented content
  • Background developing reusable instructional libraries, problem collections, or curricula for use by fellow educators
  • Documented student achievements including qualifications, rankings, medals, or other formally recognized competition results
