Job Title: Assistant Teacher

Location: South Shore

Supervisor: Site Director

Responsibilities
  • Develop positive relationships with children and parents
  • Assist lead teacher in planning and implementing lesson plans for classroom activities covering all developmental areas: language, cognitive, physical, personal, social/emotional and creative; explore new curriculum ideas and implement the Project Approach along with the Creative Curriculum
  • Create an environment where children can learn, grow, build self-esteem, and feel secure; adapt curriculum and provide leadership for planning and implementation of activities to meet individual needs; collaborate with the service review team and initiate referrals for special needs services
  • Participate in child staffing; participate in parent-teacher conferences and other formal/informal conferences; establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents
  • Observe, document, and report changes in child health and development; complete appropriate accident and incident reports on the day of occurrence
  • Discuss and maintain records of child observation and evaluations using Teaching Strategies Gold, Copa, and Education Folders
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher and director on ordering and purchasing supplies
  • Assist with room arrangements and ensure a safe, neat, orderly, and age-appropriate classroom environment
Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of an AA in Child Development from an accredited college, or be enrolled in an AS program with 30 credits (at least 15 in Child Development/Early Childhood Education)
  • Must have Gateways IT Credential Level 4
  • Relates well with children and adults
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations
  • Schedule:

    M-F (9:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
Compensation and Benefits

Hourly range: $21.63/hr this is a full-time non-exempt position. $1,500 Sign-on Bonus available.
