Overview
The Home Visitor most important mission is to enhance and empower the family to see themselves as the child s first and most important teacher! Meeting families in a culturally sensitive way to coach parents on advocating for a child s wellbeing and instructing parents on teaching opportunities both formal and informal that build child development.
Wu Yee Children’s Services delivers comprehensive Child Development, Family, and Provider services for young children (0-5 years old) and low-income families throughout the City of San Francisco. The scope of our programs ranges from child/parent education, wellness, mental health, nutrition and social services including Early Head Start and Head Start programs.
Full time - 40 hours per week (8:30 am - 5:00 pm)
Location: 880 Clay St San Francisco, CA 94108 (Req 1670) - (Bilingual in Cantonese)
Primary Responsibilities- Ensure that all Home Based requirements are met in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
- Provide weekly in-home support for Home Based parents and children integrating educational goals (including IFSP goals, if applicable) and developmentally appropriate practices in the home setting.
- Promote healthy and secure attachment between the parent and child.
- Coordinate and plan socializations for Home Based families in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.
- Maintain and manage a caseload of 10 – 12 families throughout the program year.
- Maintain regular verbal and written communication with program staff and families to facilitate effective program performance.
- Develop cooperative relationships with community agencies and agency staff.
- Maintain children’s files and database, including recording ongoing contact with families and ensuring all program requirements are completed and documented appropriately.
- Monitor progress and document follow-up for all program requirements.
- Work collaboratively with ERSEA and other staff to recruit and enroll new families and assure smooth orientation and transition.
- Assist parents in establishing and implementing long and short-term goals for their children, facilitate home interactive educational activities and model effective parenting skills for Home Based families according to scheduled timeline.
- Review each child’s goals with parents to develop individualized lesson plans in partnership with the parents according to scheduled timeline.
- As identified, work with appropriate agencies and other resources to develop Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP).
- Assist in clarifying goals and desired outcomes for the IFSP meeting, annual review and transition meeting for families of children with suspected or diagnosed delay.
- Identify needs of pregnant women in the program, and design individualized plans to address their unique needs.
- Provide crisis intervention referrals, as needed.
- Coordinate family committee meetings, recruit parents for leadership roles in the Policy Council.

- bilingual in English and Cantonese language required.
- Proficiency in English both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of early childhood education and intervention, including experience coaching and mentoring early childhood curriculum and standards for infants and toddlers.
- Knowledge to support the healthy development of pregnant women.
- Minimum of two years of experience in early childhood development, family services, or pediatric health; including knowledge and experience relating to community resources for referrals to families in need.
- Skill in dealing with sensitive family situations in a non-threatening and professional manner.
- Good judgment and effective problem solving.
- Strong computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate group activities.
- Able to bend and lift 25 pounds, as needed.
- Associate’s Degree or (equivalent coursework as part of an associate s or bachelor s degree), in Social Work, Psychology or related field;
