Who are we?

At Coffee Break Languages, we create language learning resources for a worldwide audience through award‑winning podcasts, online courses, books, and video content. Delivering over 2 million language lessons every month, we aim to engage, educate and entertain the learners in our community. Our team is based in south‑west Scotland and we work with teachers, content creators and language experts to produce resources across a range of languages, including French, Italian, German, Spanish, English and more.

Our mission is to make language learning accessible through high‑quality, user‑friendly resources that learners can use anytime, anywhere.

About 1‑1 Coaching

1‑1 coaching is a new service from Coffee Break which combines the flexibility of self‑study with the motivation, guidance and accountability of one‑to‑one coaching. Our teachers will help learners stay on track, build confidence, and apply what they are learning in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking to recruit a team of enthusiastic and experienced freelance Spanish teachers to deliver 1‑to‑1 online lessons to language learners, via video calls, around the world. This role is ideal for experienced language teachers who enjoy working independently, value learner‑centred teaching, and share our positive, encouraging approach to language learning. As this is a freelance, demand‑based role, there is no guarantee of regular hours.

Our aim is to build a team of trusted remote tutors whom we can call on as learner demand grows.

Requirements
  • Highly proficient or native‑level in Spanish
  • Proficient in English (this is the language through which we teach)
  • Experience teaching, tutoring, or coaching adult language learners (formal or informal)
  • Confident delivering sessions online, via video calls
  • Can explain language clearly and adapt to different learner needs
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to identify mistakes when proofreading
  • Creative and culturally aware
  • Warm, encouraging, and professional in communication
  • Reliable, organised, excellent at timekeeping and comfortable working independently as part of a wider team
  • Passionate about languages, learning and supporting learners
  • Familiarity with communicative language teaching and an interest in guided self‑study models is an advantage, but full training in the Coffee Break Languages approach will be provided.

Application Process
  • Applications for this round of recruitment will close on Sunday 25th January 2026. Please be aware that this deadline may be brought forward if a high volume of applications is received.
  • Interviews are expected to take place in late January/early February 2026.
  • Applicants who progress to the second stage of the recruitment process will be asked to complete a task.
  • Successful applicants will begin onboarding in February 2026.
  • Successful candidates will be notified shortly after interview. Please note that as this is a freelance role based on demand, there may not be an immediate start date. Work will be assigned as and when there is demand for our new Coaching programme. Teachers will be onboarded and fully trained before joining the Coaching programme.
