The University of Central Arkansas Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure‑track and a nine‑month appointment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Teach in Nutrition & Family Sciences at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Preference is given for expertise in one or more of the following: foundations of nutrition, community nutrition, nutrition/food science, nutrition, applied statistics, meal management, sports nutrition, metabolic nutrition, current trends in nutrition, nutrition counseling, research in nutrition & family sciences, or clinical nutrition.
- Ability to design and teach online courses, particularly at the graduate level.
- Ability to conduct research and participate in scholarly activities in areas of specialization.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Participate in professional service activities for the department, college, university, and professional organizations.
- Knowledge of the organization and administration of higher education.
- Knowledge of state, federal, and university rules, regulations and procedures.
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently with common goals as a part of a team.

Education and/or Experience
- Earned doctorate in nutrition or closely related field at the time of hire required for appointment at the assistant professor level. A completed doctorate is preferred, but ABD will be considered.
- Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate‑level courses in Nutrition & Family Sciences, and evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to student learning and development.
- Demonstrated scholarly competence and research productivity.
Education and/or Experience
- Two or more years of experience in higher education.
- Registered Dietitian (RD/ RDN) credential is desirable.
