Job SummaryThis position is scheduled to begin August 2026. Instructs students in computer information systems (CIS) classes related to networking, programming, and cybersecurity. Uses multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate technologies to engage students, enhance teaching, and promote student success. Demonstrates commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, and integrity in performance of job duties.
Instruction will be delivered in traditional and non-traditional settings, including Learning Communities, short-term courses, hybrid and online/live-online courses. Collaborates in development of leadership programs for students and with business, industry, and community to develop opportunities for students; builds relationships with high school and university institutions to support transfer pathways; facilitates activities outside the classroom for students such as undergraduate student research, STEAM, and industry experiences.
May teach at the PVCC Black Mountain site and the Union Hills site, and may teach evening as well as day classes.
- Supervises and instructs students, including high school bridge program students, in classroom and/or lab, online or hybrid, accelerated and other alternative schedules and formats.
- Develops instructional materials and curriculum, written syllabi/course outlines, and course materials; assesses and evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students’ scholastic records; prepares and grades examinations and other student activities; hires, supervises and evaluates adjunct faculty.
- Maintains office hours to assist, tutor, and advise students; works with students outside the classroom on instructional activities and projects such as clubs, undergraduate student research, STEAM programs, internships with business/industry; develops and cultivates relationships with high school and university institutions to develop and promote transfer pathways for students.
- Remains current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, workshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
- Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor's degree or higher OR
- A Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR
- A Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR
- A Master's degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field
- Master’s Degree or higher in computer information system or related cybersecurity discipline.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level with community college preferred.
- Experience using student engagement or collaborative/active learning strategies.
- Experience developing and teaching online or hybrid format computer courses at post-secondary level.
- Experience teaching computer courses such as networking, programming, cybersecurity.
- Evidence of networking, cybersecurity or programming work experience.
- Demonstrated evidence working with faculty, staff, and/or students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- May require possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License or other state license; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving.
- MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas.
- Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.
- May require travel or work at the Black Mountain campus.
- Will require on campus work with possible remote work in accordance with Maricopa policy.
- May require numerous evenings or weekends.
- Must have availability to work a flexible schedule, including rotating shifts for days, nights, and weekends, as required to meet the needs of students, the college, the district, and the program.
- Work assignments may extend beyond standard academic semesters and hours.
- May be required to teach in various modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and/or work at a computer for prolonged periods.
- May require lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.
- Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense.
