Position Description

The Department of Computer Science invites applications for an Online Assistant Professor of Instruction position to start as early as Fall 2026. This is a nine‑month non‑tenure‑line faculty appointment. Candidates will teach online courses in the Master of Computer Science program and may supplement salary with summer instruction. All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Successful candidates are expected to:

  • Teach four sections of online master’s level courses per semester.
  • Exhibit a collaborative attitude that contributes to the department’s culture of cooperation and teamwork.

This position is primarily for online teaching; candidates are not expected to conduct research, seek external funding, or publish.

The Department offers the following degree programs:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science
  • Master of Science in AI
  • Master of Science in Computer Science
  • Master of Arts in Computer Science
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science

All BS degrees are ABET accredited.

The department provides a supportive environment for junior faculty through mentoring, reduced service loads, collaboration, collegiality, and university‑wide professional development.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field by the start of employment.
  • Evidence of online teaching effectiveness at U.S. universities.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
Associate Rank Requirements
  • At least five years of online university‑level teaching with evidence of graduate‑level teaching effectiveness.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated current and contemporary competence in online teaching.
  • Potential for increased leadership in teaching and instructional activities.
