Contracted Days: Part‑time position; hours and days vary according to time of year and number of alternative candidates supervised

Compensation: $700 stipend per candidate completed

Status: Non‑Exempt

Benefits: Colorado PERA

Working Conditions: Year‑round position. The majority of work is conducted remotely with some required travel.

Major Areas of Responsibility and Duties
  • Stay current with local, state, and federal laws, rules, and standards governing education, curriculum assessment, and instructional delivery systems, professional development research and practices, and technology used to enhance professional learning and offer distance learning.
  • Meet with each alternative teacher’s/principal’s team twice annually.
  • Observe each alternative teacher/principal twice annually.
  • Collaborate with school, district, BOCES administrators, and state/local agencies to support alternative teachers/principals.
  • Attend BOCES meetings and program meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintain all required paperwork and forms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Licensure: Current or ability to maintain a Colorado Department of Education Principal or Administrator License and a Special Education Teacher License.
  • Training: Meets the requirements set by CDE to keep licenses current, including participating in CDE‑required training on your own time.
Qualifications Preferred
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Knowledge of quality professional development practices, needs assessments, implementation of the Colorado model evaluation system, educational reform initiatives, curriculum assessment, instruction delivery systems, and current technology used to enhance training and offer distance learning.
  • Licensure: Colorado Department of Education ECE & General Education Teaching License as needed for the role.
  • Supervisor: Professional Learning Director.
Specific Skills Preferred
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules, and standards governing education.
  • Knowledge of professional development research and practices, needs assessments, the Colorado model evaluation system, educational reform initiatives, curriculum assessment, instruction delivery systems.
  • Knowledge of processes that address diversity related to student performance and instructional methodology based on disability, race, culture, and socio-economic status.
  • Strong technical skills for enhancing training and providing distance learning.
  • Strong leadership skills that support program objectives; the ability to supervise, instruct, motivate, and solve problems with co‑workers.
  • Strong relationship skills: ability to work cooperatively, effectively, and respectfully with district and BOCES personnel, committees, community agencies, parents, and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated record of commitment and sensitivity to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and human rights.
Additional Conditions of Employment
  • Must be proficient in Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and virtual meeting platforms.
