Position Overview

The K‑12 School Counselor at Wellspring Global Academy supports students’ academic planning, personal development, and college/career readiness in a virtual environment. The counselor acts as the primary liaison among students, families, and academic staff to ensure a clear and successful academic journey from enrollment through graduation.

Essential Position Functions
  • Academic Planning & Advising – Guide course selection aligned with academic goals, create individualized plans for grades K‑12, monitor progress, provide interventions, and coordinate dual‑credit participation.
  • Transcripts, Scheduling & Records Management – Maintain and update transcripts, process requests and transfers, comply with FERPA, and collaborate with enrollment teams to ensure accurate placements.
  • Social‑Emotional & Whole Child Support – Provide short‑term counseling and referrals, identify at‑risk students, and facilitate workshops on self‑management and emotional wellness.
  • College, Career & Life Readiness – Support college planning, scholarship navigation, SAT/ACT timelines, ASVAB, AP, and career exploration; assist with applications, FAFSA, and personal statements; coordinate virtual fairs and panels.
  • Collaboration & Compliance – Collaborate with coaches, specialists, teachers, and families; maintain documentation of counseling sessions and interventions in the SIS or CRM; ensure compliance with internal policies and FERPA.
  • Other Duties – Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
  • Deep understanding of academic advising, course planning, transcripts, GPA, and postsecondary readiness.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a remote setting.
  • Tech‑savvy and comfortable using virtual platforms (Google Workspace, Zoom/Google Meet, TEAMS, LMS/SIS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an online or hybrid K‑12 school environment.
  • Knowledge of NCAA eligibility processes, dual credit systems, and transcript evaluation.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Education & Certification Requirements
  • Master’s degree in School Counseling, Education, or related field.
  • Valid state of Texas certification/licensure as a K‑12 School Counselor.
Minimum 2 Years Of Experience In Education
