About Greenheart Exchange Greenheart Exchange, a division of Greenheart International, has been fostering cultural exchange and global understanding since 1985. Our J‑1 High School Program connects international students with welcoming host families across the U.S., promoting cross-cultural learning and lifelong friendships. Endorsed by the City of Chicago, Greenheart is committed to global leadership, citizen diplomacy, and sustainability. We believe in the power of people‑to‑people connections to create lasting change.

What You’ll Do as a Local Coordinator:
• Recruit and support host families interested in welcoming an international student.

• Guide families through the approval process and provide orientations.

• Serve as a mentor for students and host families throughout the school year.

• Build relationships with local high schools to facilitate student placements.

• Encourage student engagement through volunteer activities.

    Remote/Work from Home (occasional local travel required)
  • Compensation: $1,300 for a full academic year placement, $1,100 for a Semester placement, PLUS BONUSES for placing early!
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Reliable internet access and home office setup.
  • Completion of a Department of State certification test (Greenheart provides training).
  • Due to Department of State program obligations and the supervisory nature of this role, applicants must meet Greenheart’s internal eligibility standards related to maturity, responsibility, and prior experience working with youth and host families.

  • Passionate about cultural exchange and community-building
  • Skilled at networking and relationship-building
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated
  • Experienced in mentoring youth (a plus!)
