The Online Student Advocate will provide comprehensive, personalized support to online students, helping them navigate academic and administrative processes, and connecting them with institutional resources. This role is essential in ensuring the success and well‑being of online students by offering a seamless and supportive experience throughout their educational journey.

Major/Essential Functions

• Serve as the primary point of contact for online students, addressing their inquiries and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
• Assist students with registration, aid, and other administrative processes.
• Provide technical support for online learning planforms and tools.
• Facilitate students access to campus resources such as library services, career counseling, statistical consultations, and writing center.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of institutional resources and services available to online students.
• Connect students with Graduate Student Support Specialist to ensure students are provided adequate access to campus resources.
• Work with the Graduate School Enrollment Services Liaison and department contacts to make sure student is enrolled and meeting academic standards.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the and enhancement of advocate services.
• Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to student satisfaction and service utilization.
• Track and document student interactions and outcomes to inform continuous improvement of advocate services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of academic and administrative processes affecting graduate students
• Ability to provide comprehensive, personalized support to online students
• Strong case management, problem‑solving, and follow‑up skills
• Ability to connect students with appropriate institutional resources
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Experience supporting online, adult, or nontraditional students
• Familiarity with student success, retention, or advocacy models
• Ability to manage sensitive student situations with professionalism and discretion
• Knowledge of Texas Tech resources

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field. Minimum of 1 year of experience in student services, academic advising, customer service, or a related area. Experience working with college students.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
