The Catch
22 Employability division provides skills and employability provision on a range of programmes, both public and corporate funded. We pride ourselves on supporting the most disadvantaged in society to improve their prospects resulting in improved social mobility and sustainable positive change.
Our Employability division is expanding due to the procurement of new contracts and we therefore look to grow our frontline delivery team.
You will be an experienced Employment Coach/Advisor with mentor skills who can positively challenge Care Experienced Young people (CEYP) aged 18 - 30 to look at their approach to challenges and manage them in new ways. You would report to the Service Manager and sit within an employability team delivering a targeted employability contract to NEET CEYP across the Westminster Borough of London.
The role is outreach based (Westminster and surrounding London boroughs) and you will be a Career Mentor working within local communities to support NEET CEYP to progress into sustainable employment or education and training as well as deliver sessions and guidance about life skills.
We seek a diverse workforce and therefore are open to a range of backgrounds and experience however seek an individual who is proactive, organised and resilient to deal with the varying demands of the role.
Your main duties will include:
To deliver a range of supportive interventions to help Care experienced young people (CEYP) 18 – 30 years achieve sustainable employment.
To effectively engage participants and attach them to existing and new employability programmes/interventions.
To deliver high quality end to end Information, Advice and Guidance to participants on our employability programmes.
To coach the participants on a one to one and group basis based on the Catch
22 Employability Methodology.
To prepare CVs, cover letter and job/apprenticeship application forms with participants.
To successfully place participants from a range of target groups into career focused employment or education opportunities.
To deliver high quality In Work Support which effectively sustains participants for a minimum of six months.
What does good look like for this role?
- Developing strong relationships with referral partners, Care Experienced Young people aged 18 - 30, training providers and employers
- Strong interpersonal skills; approachable, adaptable and supportive to the range of stakeholders involved in this programme.
- Ability to develop strong rapport and challenge young people to look at their approach to challenges and managing them in a new way
- Service users have a positive experience and achieve their goals.
- Coaching, and delivering services, within the Employability sector.
Supporting young people or adults facing barriers to employment, particularly care experienced young people.
Delivering employability support, coaching or mentoring, including job search and interview preparation.
Skills & Abilities:
Understanding of person-centered, strengths-based approaches to employability support.
Ability to engage, motivate and build positive relationships with young people.
Strong communication and coaching skills, working one-to-one and in groups.
Desirable: Qualification in IAG (L3), ERS (L3), Coaching, IEP Membership or a relevant professional qualification
Additional InformationBasis: Full Time, Permanent
Flexibility: Outreach and community based work across Westminster and surrounding boroughs of London, with some opportunities for remote working
