Overview
Instructional Development Specialist – College of Dentistry, Office of Academic Affairs, University of Illinois Chicago. This is a full-time, on-site position with a 6-month probationary period. After successful completion of the probationary period, up to one day per week of remote work may be possible.
About the CollegeThe College of Dentistry is the largest oral health college in the State of Illinois, provides care for 35,000 patients a year, and has over 500 students seeking dental degrees including DMD, PhD and Master’s programs.
Responsibilities- Advance digital learning and instructional technology within the College of Dentistry.
- Support faculty in integrating technology into teaching and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
- Manage assessment tools and oversee testing center operations, including accommodations and make-up exams.
- Master’s degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities (e.g., history, political science, literature, journalism, communications, or philosophy) and six (6) months of experience in any of the following areas: professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching.
- OR a Baccalaureate degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities and eighteen (18) months of experience in any of the following areas: professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching.
- A master’s degree and 3 years of experience in utilizing instructional technology in higher education.
- Experience coaching faculty in integrating technology into teaching.
- Proficiency with platforms such as Canvas, Blackboard, or D2L (course builds, gradebook, quizzes, analytics); experience with tools like Exam Soft, Respondus (Lock Down Browser/Monitor), Question Mark, or similar systems.
- Experience conducting accessibility checks and remediating content; ability to diagnose instructional and technical issues, recommend solutions, and follow through to resolution.
The budgeted salary range for the position is $65,000 to $78,000/year. Final rate offered will consider internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position. The position includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, a retirement plan, paid time off, and tuition waivers for employees and dependents.
