Adjunct Instructor – English
Join as an Adjunct Instructor for English at California Institute of Applied Technologies. The position is part‑time, variable‑hour and requires work‑from‑home. Applicants must reside in California or New Mexico.
Schedule & Location- Class schedule accommodates daytime jobs.
- Work‑from‑home, residing in CA or NM.
- CIAT Locations:
San Diego, CA and Albuquerque, NM.
- Reports to Dean of Education (DOE).
- Status:
Non‑Exempt. - Employment Type:
Variable‑Hour (Part‑Time).
- Available to teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize online student learning and engagement.
- Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the field or discipline.
- Connect subject matter with related fields.
- Stay current through professional development, professional organization involvement, and conferences.
- Maintain accurate student database for attendance and grade records.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation and CIAT policies.
- Promote collaboration with staff and participate in project implementation.
- Adhere to CIAT business‑casual attire; consult Employee Handbook.
- Appropriate credential, license, or certification.
- Information Technology instructors: official transcripts of Master’s degree and active certification.
- General Education instructors: official transcripts of bachelor’s and master’s (or higher) degrees, including at least 18 units on the subject.
- At least three years’ experience in the field or two years of teaching experience.
- Must come from an accredited institution.
- Advanced subject matter expertise preferred.
- Effective presentation, communication, and technology skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canvas.
- Work independently with minimal supervision; high dependability.
- Ability to multitask and solve problems promptly.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support student success.
- Commit to an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Knowledge of current trends, best practices, didactic approaches in higher education.
- Deliver engaging lesson plans meeting diverse student needs.

Variable‑hour. Days and hours usually Monday‑Friday, with weekend and evening hours. Live classes twice a week on Monday and Tuesday 6:00‑9:30 PM PT.
