Looking for a Change from the Classroom?
Outreach Tutor (Ideal for Primary Teachers Seeking an Alternative to Classroom Teaching)
Location:
Borough of Brent (home-based tuition with a parent present, or local libraries)
Start:
Immediate
Hours:
Term-time only, Monday–Friday, between 9:00am–4:00pm
Pay: £30–£40 per hour (dependent on experience)
If you’re a qualified primary teacher who loves teaching but is ready to step away from the pressures of the classroom, this outreach tutoring role offers a rewarding alternative. You’ll work closely with individual pupils, rebuild confidence, and make a real difference—without planning for 30, marking piles of books, or managing behaviour across a full class.
The Role
We are seeking dedicated Outreach Tutors to support children who are currently unable to access mainstream education. Many pupils may have Special Educational Needs, anxiety, or are experiencing school refusal.
Your role will be to provide calm, structured, and personalised learning that helps them re-engage with education at their own pace.
Sessions are delivered 1:1 , usually in the pupil’s home or a nearby library. Each learner receives up to 15 hours of tuition.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Deliver tailored English, Maths, and core subject sessions to primary-aged pupils
* Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs, SEN, and emotional wellbeing
* Build trusting relationships with pupils and parents to support engagement and progress
* Provide clear feedback and short reports to coordinators and families
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Minimum of 2 years’ teaching or tutoring experience
* Experience supporting pupils with SEN, anxiety, or barriers to learning
* Enhanced DBS (current and valid)
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
