Brief Description

The Program Director provides day‑to‑day leadership and strategic oversight for the Pathways FORWARD Consortium, a five‑year, $10M Lilly Endowment–funded initiative led by Fuller Theological Seminary. The Consortium advances a digital‑forward transformation of theological education through shared services, co‑developed curriculum, and institutional capacity building among evangelical, Hispanic‑serving, and historically Black theological institutions. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Mission and Theology, this role ensures faithful execution of the grant vision, outcomes, and reporting requirements.

Fuller Theological Seminary prepares leaders for faithful service in a diverse and global Church. Through integrative theological education, missional engagement, and innovative digital delivery, the Seminary equips leaders for ministry in complex cultural contexts.

Essential Functions
  • Provide overall leadership for the Pathways FORWARD Consortium, ensuring alignment with grant objectives and timelines
  • Serve as primary liaison with consortium partners, Advisory Council members, consultants, and evaluators
  • Advance digital‑forward transformation through implementation of shared digital services across the FORWARD consortium in collaboration with the Dean of the School of Mission and Theology, Leadership Formation Division, and FULLER Equip
  • Align the FORWARD consortium learning initiatives with Fuller’s non‑degree and digital learning ecosystem and oversee faculty and staff development cohorts to build teaching capacity across partner institutions in the FORWARD consortium
  • Oversee grant budget, subgrants, expenditures, and reporting in collaboration with the Fuller Foundation. Includes participating in sustainability planning, cost‑sharing models, and transition strategies for long‑term consortium viability

    Plan and facilitate consortium convenings, trainings, and collaborative learning experiences
  • Translate evaluation findings into adaptive improvements and institutional learning
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Master’s degree in theology, ministry, education, or related field required; doctoral degree preferred
  • 7–10+ years of senior‑level program or grant leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi‑institutional or grant‑funded initiatives
  • Strong theological grounding and ability to work across diverse ecclesial and cultural contexts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grant reporting
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail, deadlines, and financial accountability
  • Ability to travel periodically for partner engagement and convenings

  • This is a hybrid position. While this role has the ability to work from home, there may be some days the role will need to work out of the Pasadena, CA campus.
Pay Scale
  • Salary range the seminary expects to pay: $93,000 - $97,000 annually USD
