The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) at the University of North Dakota is seeking two Assistant Professor(s) to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and contribute to the mission of the department and the university through service activities.

Successful candidates must be able to provide instruction in one or more of the following areas:
Speech and Hearing Science, Audiology, Neuroanatomy, Adult Neurogenic Disorders, and/or Stuttering.

The Department is housed in the College of Arts & Sciences and offers a B.A. in Communication Sciences & Disorders and an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). The department currently has eight full-time and four part-time faculty members, and a state-of-the-art clinic facility. There are typically 100 undergraduate students, and 40 graduate students enrolled.

The Department is a part of an integrated on-campus clinic, The Northern Prairie Community Clinic (NPCC). The clinic serves as a training placement for graduate students in psychology, counseling and speech-language pathology. Students are supervised by licensed professionals. NPCC aims to serve the Grand Forks community and state of North Dakota.

Established in 1883, the University of North Dakota is the oldest research university in North Dakota. UND offers degrees in more than 225 fields of study and enrolls nearly 16,000 students. It is the home of the state’s only School of Law and School of Medicine.

The School of Medicine and Health Sciences has major initiatives in rural and public health, and Aerospace is home to one of the first and largest unmanned aerial vehicle programs in the world.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in CSD, which may include:

• • Survey of Communication Disorders
  • Neuroanatomy of Communication Disorders
  • Right Hemisphere Damage
  • Aphasia
  • Intro to Audiology
  • Speech and Hearing Science
  • Aural Rehabilitation
  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanism
  • Audiology for SLPs

Work collaboratively with other faculty to achieve consistent and high-quality learning and clinical environments.

Advise and mentor graduate students, direct graduate theses and independent study projects.

Establish a solid and productive research program, including seeking extramural funding to support individual and collaborative projects. Serve as a catalyst for attracting and supporting graduate students in SLP.

The successful applicant will receive a contract with an approximate distribution of 50% teaching (five 3-credit courses), 40% research, and 10% service effort.
