Institute - LLILAS (a Title VI National Resource Center)
The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS) is recognized as one of the leading Centers for the Interdisciplinary Study of Latin America, with 165 affiliated faculty across colleges, schools, and departments at UT Austin. LLILAS offers programs that lead to BA, MA, and PhD degrees and a range of dual MA degree programs. The Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection is a global destination for research and study, with over a million volumes, as well as a wealth of original manuscripts and various media related to Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, and the Latina/Latino presence in the United States.
LLILAS is a Title VI National Resource Center, which, in partnership with the Benson Collection as LLILAS Benson, advances research, teaching, and outreach initiatives to promote greater understanding and appreciation of the continent and its global diasporas.

PurposeThe Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Latin American Studies. The fellow will support LLILAS’s academic programs and contribute to LLILAS’s interdisciplinary mission by contributing to and helping develop LLILAS research and teaching initiatives.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute research initiatives while actively engaging with LLILAS’s interdisciplinary intellectual community.
- Help support LLILAS curricular needs by contributing to core seminars or proseminars.
- Provide academic and professional support to LLILAS students.
- Participate in LLILAS co-curricular programming: workshops, lecture series, working groups, and other academic events.
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, awarded no more than three years prior to the start date.
- Research agenda focused on Latin America or the Caribbean.
- Demonstration of potential for scholarly productivity and excellence in teaching.
- Evidence of collaborative academic work.
- Record of independent scholarly research.
- Teaching experience.
$55,000 - $60,000
Working Conditions- Standard academic office and classroom environment.
- Occasional evening/weekend activities may be required.
