RequirementsYou Bring
- Experience working with Alaska Native, Indigenous, and rural communities or deep interest in learning.
- Knowledge of student development, academic advising best practices, and university systems.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Cultural humility, multicultural sensitivity, and the ability to build trust with diverse student populations.
- Skill in navigating complex situations using problem‑solving, collaboration, and sound judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and the ability to learn advising systems (Banner, Degree Works, Nanook Navigator, etc.).
- Commitment to confidentiality, professional boundaries, and student‑centered support.
The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and one year of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Position DetailsThis position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full‑time, exempt staff position complete with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
