The Nikao Kids Director leads the vision, culture, and execution of all children's ministry environments, from infants through fifth grade. This role provides spiritual leadership, creative direction, and operational oversight to ensure that every child knows God, feels loved, and has fun learning about Jesus in a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate setting.
Key Responsibilities- Children's Ministry Oversight
- Cast vision and set spiritual tone for Nikao Kids ministry
- Plan and oversee weekend children's programming, including worship, teaching, and activities
- Ensure curriculum aligns with Nikao’s theology and developmental best practices
- Create a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment for children and families
- Volunteer Leadership & Training
- Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to serve in classrooms and support roles
- Develop team leads and a leadership pipeline within Nikao Kids
- Foster a strong team culture of spiritual growth, reliability, and care
- Provide regular team communication, encouragement, and feedback
- Safety, Check-In, and Facility Oversight
- Maintain a secure check-in/check-out system and child protection policies
- Ensure background checks and training for all volunteers
- Manage classroom cleanliness, safety, and supply needs
- Collaborate with Operations and Security teams to maintain a safe environment
- Parent & Family Engagement
- Develop partnerships with parents through communication, events, and resources
- Equip parents to disciple their children at home
- Respond to parent questions and concerns with empathy and clarity
- Ministry Events & Collaboration
- Plan and execute kids-related events (e.g., VBS, Parent Night, Family Sundays)
- Collaborate with other departments for all-church events involving children
- Participate in staff meetings and strategic planning initiatives
- Minimum 3 years experience in children's ministry leadership
- Strong understanding of childhood development and age-appropriate ministry
- Proven ability to build and lead volunteer teams
- Creative, organized, and pastoral in leadership style
- Excellent communicator with parents, staff, and children
