MOSS Building & Design, an award-winning home remodeling company based in Northern Virginia, is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Instructional Designer/Facilitator to develop and deliver engaging, effective learning experiences that align with organizational goals.

This role blends instructional design expertise with facilitation skills to create and implement training that drives measurable performance improvement. The ideal candidate will partner with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver learning solutions across multiple modalities—including eLearning, instructor-led training, blended learning, and performance support tools. This role will support learning experiences that span onboarding, functional new hire, career pathing, continuous education, and leadership development.

This is an in office based role at our Design Center in Northern VA with some remote work possible after 90 days of employment.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Needs Analysis

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess learning needs, define performance objectives, and align training strategies with business goals.

Instructional Design & Development

  • Create course outlines, storyboards, scripts, and design documents grounded in adult learning principles and instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, etc.).

Content Creation

  • Develop high-quality learning materials, including eLearning modules, job aids, facilitator guides, and multimedia assets, using authoring tools and graphic design best practices.

Delivery & Facilitation

  • Facilitate instructor-led training sessions (in-person and virtual), workshops, and blended learning programs.
  • Apply facilitation best practices to create interactive, learner-centered environments that enhance engagement and knowledge transfer.
  • Coach leaders and subject matter experts on facilitation techniques when co-delivering training.
  • Leverage Learning Management Systems (LMS) and authoring tools to deliver and track training programs.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct content reviews, usability testing, and continuous improvement based on learner feedback and performance data.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and project teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and instructional effectiveness.

Measurement & Evaluation

  • Apply learning analytics and Kirkpatrick/Phillips models to measure training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training & Development, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    3–5 years of professional experience designing, developing, and facilitating instructional content in corporate, higher education, or similar environments.
  • Portfolio:
    Demonstrated examples of instructional design work, including eLearning, facilitator-led training, blended learning solutions, and live facilitation of workshops or courses.
  • Proficiency in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Strong skills in eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia).
  • Experience managing projects from concept through delivery.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and visual design skills for instructional content.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, learner-friendly materials.
  • Familiarity with SCORM/xAPI standards and LMS administration.
  • Strong collaboration, delivery facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in a corporate Learning & Development function.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.
  • Graphic design or multimedia development experience (Adobe Creative Suite, video editing).
  • Certification in instructional design or learning technologies (e.g., ATD CPLP, APTD, or similar).
  • Experience applying learning analytics to improve training impact.
  • Experience facilitating both in-person and virtual instructor-led sessions, with strong learner engagement techniques.
