Homebound Instructors

Overview

Staunton City Schols is seeking applications for part-time Homebound Instructors for the 2025-26 school year.

SUMMARY
:

A Homebound Instructor shall be made available to qualifying students who are confined at home or in a health care facility for periods that would prevent normal school attendance which means the student is (1) unable to participate in the normal day-to-day activities typically expected during school attendance and (2) absences from the home during confinement are infrequent, for periods of relatively short duration, or to receive health care treatment.

Homebound instruction is designed to provide continuity of educational services between the classroom and the home setting or health care facility for students whose medical needs, both physical and psychological, contraindicate school attendance for a limited period (9 weeks or less) of time. This position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to create your own caseload. However, being selected as a qualified candidate does not guarantee that work will be provided at any given time.

Homebound Instruction is assigned on an as needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
:

• Must possess a valid Virginia Teaching License
• Experience working with students in a school setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
:

• The homebound instructor will act as a liaison between the student and school; picking up assignments and returning them as needed
• The homebound instructor will provide appropriate instruction based on the student's grade level and class assignments
• The homebound instructor will communicate student progress with teachers, counselors, and homebound coordinator or designee
• Homebound instructors will provide in person and/or virtual instruction based on the needs of the student.

COMPENSATION
:

Compensation: $40/hour; hourly payment includes instruction time-only, transportation time is not included.

Part-time with no benefits.
