Remote Online ESL Teacher - American Expat

Job Summary

We are seeking qualified American ESL teachers currently living in Mexico to join our online English teaching platform, providing one-on-one instruction to Chinese students aged 6-15. This remote position offers stable income with guaranteed hours (88-100 hours per month), competitive $14 USD hourly compensation, and comprehensive lesson materials. Teachers will conduct 25-minute formal assessment-based classes via our online platform, working flexible schedules that align with Beijing time zones while maintaining the freedom to work from anywhere in Mexico.

• Deliver one-on-one English lessons to Chinese students (ages 6-15, A1/A2 proficiency level)
• Conduct formal teaching and assessment-based classes using provided curriculum
• Prepare for 25-minute lessons using company-supplied materials (no lesson creation required)
• Maintain professional online classroom environment with reliable audio/video quality
• Track student progress and provide constructive feedback during sessions
• Communicate with students and parents via WeChat (when applicable)
• Maintain consistent schedule according to chosen shift pattern
• Ensure technical setup meets platform requirements for seamless class delivery

• Must be American citizen currently residing in Mexico
• Bachelor's degree in any field
• Completed 120-hour TEFL certificate or equivalent ESL certification
• Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience
• Strong English communication skills and professional demeanor
• Computer with minimum 2GHz processor and 8GB RAM
• Fiber internet connection with 20mbps upload/download speeds
• LAN cable connection (WiFi not sufficient)
• HD webcam and noise-canceling headset
• Power backup system (essential for areas with power interruptions)
• Quiet, well-lit teaching space with clean background

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Experience teaching English to non-native speakers, preferably children
• Comfortable using online teaching platforms and digital tools
• Strong classroom management skills for one-on-one virtual environment
• Cultural sensitivity when working with Chinese students and families
• WeChat communication platform experience
• Previous online ESL teaching experience
• Experience with formal assessment and progress tracking
• Background working with elementary to middle school aged students

• Monday-Sunday operation with flexible schedule choices
• Weekdays: 5:00 AM - 8:00 AM Mexico Time (18:00-21:00 Beijing Time)
• Weekends: 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM OR 1:00 AM - 5:00 AM Mexico Time
• 4 weekdays + both weekend days = 100.8 hours/month
• Monday-Friday + Saturday (Sunday off) = 88.2 hours/month
• Monday-Friday + Sunday (Saturday off) = 88.2 hours/month
• Average commitment: 20-25 hours per week

• Bachelor's degree from accredited institution (any major accepted)
• 120-hour TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA certification
• Teaching credentials or ESL certifications preferred but not mandatory
• Willingness to participate in platform training and orientation
• Openness to professional development opportunities as provided by company

• Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience in any educational setting
• Experience with English language instruction to non-native speakers
• Demonstrated ability to work with children and adolescents (ages 6-15)
• Previous online or remote teaching experience highly valued
• Strong track record of reliability and professional conduct
• Experience adapting teaching methods to individual student needs
