About the Position
The Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications (ALEC) at Texas A&M University invites applications for a 9‑month, tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in Agricultural Communications and Journalism (AGCJ). Anticipated start date:
August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth of the ALEC academic programs, including the AGCJ undergraduate major and minor, and the ALEC master’s and doctoral programs.
50% research, 40% teaching, 10% service. Expected to obtain federal, state, industrial, and/or foundation funding to sustain a vigorous, nationally known research program.
Research Focus Options- Science Communication – Conduct basic science communication research in life sciences contexts (food, health, precision agriculture). Secure funding such as NSF SoS:
DCI. - Rural and Social Challenges – Engage rural, suburban, and urban audiences on complex agricultural topics. Secure funding such as USDA AFRI or HHS National Rural Health Policy.
- Earned doctorate in Agricultural Communication, Communications or related field by hiring date.
- Experience securing extramural funding as principal or co‑principal investigator.
- Strong publication record in high impact journals.
- Experience training students and conducting research with extension partners.
- A cover letter summarizing qualifications.
- A current CV with research, teaching, and service.
- A personal statement (max 3 pages, single‑spaced).
- Names and contact info for three professional references.
