DescriptionThe Internship to Career (I2C) program equips pre-employment transition students, ages 14-21, with meaningful and integrated work-based learning experiences. Through work readiness skills training, resource sharing, one-on-one job exploration counseling, and internships, participants will gain confidence and experience needed to propel them to the next level in their path to obtain success in a career of their choice.
This is a remote position that requires some travel within the following counties:
Burlington, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Union, and Somerset.
- Ensure that all work is carried out in a manner that is respectful and empowering to families and individuals with disabilities
- Assist with the hiring and training of Skills Trainers
- Supervise I2C Skills Trainers and provide ongoing evaluation and feedback
- Create and maintain relationships and partnerships with local businesses and organizations
- Spearhead the development of internship opportunities through collaboration with employers
- Conduct work site tours and educate employers as needed on the capabilities and needs of individuals with disabilities
- Review and approve all internship site placements
- Maintain consistent contact with participants to address any challenges or provide resource referrals
- Design and lead work readiness workshops and job exploration one-on-one sessions
- Liaison between state agency counselors/local offices, schools, or parents to provide updates and answer questions
- Approve and monitor student payments, including keeping accurate financial records
- Design data collection spreadsheets and folder organization systems to ensure program efficiency
- Monitor program budgets and data entry
- Provide accurate and timely reports to funders
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Employment & Transition Services, SVP of Programs & Services, or CEO
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Human Services or a similar field
- At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or increasing workforce development
- Prior management and supervision experience preferred
- Prior experience working with youth with disabilities or in a job developer/coach role preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively motivate and inspire others to put forth their best effort
- Comfortability with taking initiative and developing innovative approaches to networking, job development, trainings, etc.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule when obligations require attention outside of typical work hours
- Reliable transportation to travel between the nine service counties as needed
