Overview

Position:
Assistant Professor, tenure track position (full-time, 10-month).

Position Summary

All Teaching Faculty members shall: prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date; respond to and work with multiple constituencies (students, peers, and external agencies); perform divisional/departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources; and other teaching and related duties as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Duties
  • Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and deliver a range of courses in the discipline area of study.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning; provide student support and academic advising; plan program-related events; assist with program reviews; develop curriculum; participate in teaching material evaluation.
  • Attend workshops or conferences to maintain currency in the profession; teach in day and/or evening classes; course delivery may be in person, hybrid, or online.
  • Recruit, advise, and retain students; select part-time instructors; schedule courses; hire and evaluate faculty; establish partnerships with local organizations and employers; arrange and supervise internships; assess and improve the program.
  • Attend convocations and commencements; serve on committees and task forces; participate in meetings, including evenings or weekends as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Legal Studies or a related discipline.
  • Four (4) years college teaching experience (96+ credits).
  • Proven ability to work effectively with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; strong information technology literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Experience teaching Paralegal or Business Law classes.
  • Experience with curriculum development, program assessment and evaluation.
  • Experience supervising paralegals, faculty, or staff.
  • Experience in oversight of cooperative work & learning experiences.
  • Experience using technology to enhance learning (e.g., Blackboard, online instruction).
Starting Salary

Minimum Salary: $70,965 approximate annual, plus excellent state benefits. Salary based on qualifications, education, and experience.
