OTD Program - Faculty - Academic Fieldwork Coordinator
South College is seeking an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) Program. The AFWC holds a faculty appointment and has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the South College Entry‑Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program.
This position can be a hybrid role, with remote work and intensive lab attendance at the Atlanta, GA campus.
Responsibilities- Develop, monitor, and refine the occupational‑centered fieldwork education components of the curriculum.
- Facilitate quality learning experiences for students during fieldwork education.
- Evaluate students' performance, in cooperation with other faculty, to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum.
- Educate students, fieldwork educators (FWEs), and academic faculty about fieldwork education and related policies and procedures.
- Select clinical learning environments that demonstrate sound patient/client management, ethical and professional behavior, safety, and current occupational therapy practice.
- Maximize available resources for the fieldwork education program.
- Provide documented records and assessment of the fieldwork education component (including fieldwork sites, FWEs, etc.).
- Actively engage core faculty in the planning, implementation, and assessment processes associated with fieldwork education.
- Communicate current information among all stakeholders to maintain knowledge of the educational program, fieldwork sites, and health care changes affecting clinical practice and fieldwork education.
- Provide ongoing communication with FWEs at each fieldwork education site to support compliance with ACOTE standards.
- Communicate and oversee communication with FWEs, clinical faculty, and students to monitor progress and assess student performance, providing guidance and support as required.
- Ensure all program policies, procedures, and practices comply with accreditation policies, specifically ACOTE C Standards for Fieldwork Experience.
- Provide direct input into curriculum design, review, and revision processes.
Minimum Education
- Conferred Doctorate Degree from an institution accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized regional accrediting body.
- Preferred degree types: OTD, PhD, or another Doctorate Degree in a closely related field.
Licensure/Certification Qualifications
- Active/ Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of Tennessee or the state of residence.
- Initially certified by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.
