LocationHybrid. Oversight of multiple residential programs within Virginia. Quarterly on-site visits required. (Approximately 1 day per month).
Position OverviewThis role provides medical leadership across a growing residential substance use and dual-diagnosis continuum. The focus is oversight, consultation, and clinical leadership rather than routine direct patient care. The Medical Director supports nurse practitioners, ensures safe and consistent prescribing practices, and partners closely with executive and clinical leadership during a period of significant growth.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical oversight and supervision for nurse practitioners across multiple levels of care
- Serve as primary escalation point for complex medical and psychiatric cases
- Support medication management, including MAT and clients admitted on methadone
- Review charts, address prescribing gaps, and assist with timely refills in the EHR
- Guide proactive management of seizure risk and co-occurring psychiatric conditions
- Participate in treatment team meetings and case staffing as needed
- Maintain collaborative practice agreements with prescribers
- Assist with protocol development, quality improvement, and compliance reviews
- Partner with executive leadership on program development and clinical strategy
- Maintain on-call availability for NP consultation, with limited after-hours volume
- Strong comfort treating both substance use and psychiatric disorders
- Experience supervising or supporting advanced practice providers
- Confidence managing complex, high-acuity medication regimens
- Familiarity with residential levels of care and Medicaid populations
- Interest in system-level problem solving and program development
- Ready for a senior leadership role with room to grow
Up to $170,000 annually, based on experience, for a part-time commitment
ScheduleApproximately 20 hours per week. Flexible weekday scheduling. On-call availability required. Primarily remote with quarterly site visits - approximately 1x per month.
