Consultant in Urological and Gynaecological Pathology
Weare looking for an individual to fill this replacement post within the Cellular Pathology Department at St Jamess University Hospital.
This is a full-time consultant post within the Pathology Clinical Support Unit to support the provision of Urological and Gynaecological pathology services to The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust(LTHT) and the region.
The Gynae team consists of four consultants and Urology team consists of three consultants working variable amounts of time dedicated to Gynae and Urology workload respectively. As many of the services operate at regional and National level, there is a broad and interesting workload ranging from complexbiopsies to multivisceral pelvic exenteration surgery. Both services support 3
MDT each including Oncology, Colpo
MDT (cervical screening cases) and Hysteroscopy MDT in Gynae Pathology and Prostate/Bladder, Penile and Renal/Germ cell In Uropathology.
Applicants should haveablished in Gynae and Urology pathology and demonstrable interest and experience in the specialty. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is desirable.

LTHT hosts the West Yorkshire Cellular Pathology Genomic Centreand the central laboratory for the Northeast and Yorkshire Genomic Laboratoryhub with access to state-of-the-art genomic testing, IHC and FISH. This helpsdeliver a cutting-edge molecular pathology service for our patients in Leedsand across the region. There are academic links with the University of Leedsand multiple opportunities to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduatepathology teaching.
The laboratory scans all histology slides and there is the opportunity for digital home working for part of the time in accordance with Departmental guidelines.
The successful applicant should possess FRCPath (or equivalent). They should beincluded on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.

Job responsibilitiesIn relation to this post, it is a full time (10 PA) replacement consultant postwithin the Pathology Clinical Support Unit to support the provision of pathology services toThe Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) and the region. Our departmentworks in a collaborative and flexible way to deliver a sub-specialisedpathology service tailored to the needs of the tertiary centre.
The appointeewill have specialist experience in Urological and Gynaecological pathology. We have developed the principles of the Royal College of Pathologists guidelines to tryand achieve full staffing and an equitable distribution of work among theconsultants in our department.
Any candidate who isunable to work the full time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such aperson is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on apersonal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
