General Practitioner

Following the introduction of General Practitioners to the ARRS Scheme, East Cleveland PCN is seeking to employ newly qualified General Practitioners to work alongside our practices and PCN staff.

The role is offered on the basis of 6 clinical sessions + CPD per week with a contract reflecting BMA guidance and in line with the PCN DES. East Cleveland PCN offers 32 days' annual leave (pro rata for part-time staff), NHS Pension and Employee Assistance Programme. As a holder of a Home Office visa sponsorship licence, East Cleveland PCN may offer this to suitable candidate(s).

Candidates who do not yet hold MRCGP but are due to qualify prior to appointment are eligible to apply for this role and should confirm this during pre-screening.

Thepostholder will be expected to:

perform as an autonomous general practitionerworking independently and with other health care professionals to assess,diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting

provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.

be involved in the provision of education and training to GP Registrars and other staff.

be professionally accountable and responsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC code ofconduct ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is primary.

Clinical responsibilities

In accordance with the practice rota, as agreed, thepost-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing/authorising repeat prescriptions anddealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion

Making professional, autonomous decisions inrelation to presenting problems, whet herself/referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needs of patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors andearly signs of illness

In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health

Providing counselling and health education

Admitting or discharging patients to and from thecaseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultationnotes to agreed standards

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute andrepeat prescriptions

Prescribing in accordance with the practiceprescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

Visiting patients during surgery time in anemergency if clinically indicated

Undertake a fair % of On Call/duty doctor sessions per week as allocated on the practice rota and participate in the extended hours enhanced service as necessary

Undertaking fair share of home visiting sessions perweek as allocated.
