Pay Range

Pay Range $63,500 - $71,000

Job Description

The Studio Operations Manager position ensures consistent technical and instructional support in our studio and control room environments. This role is essential in supporting a growing roster of courses, labs, and productions housed in our broadcast studios. The individual will manage and operate complex automation systems, direct student-led productions, supervise part-time staff, and prepare facilities for daily instructional use. As studio use expands across academic and extracurricular initiatives, including sports shows and news programming, this position ensures technical continuity and supports student success in a high-demand, hands-on learning environment.

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU , Local 200

United.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree and interest in higher education desired.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Hands-on experience with broadcast production automation, camera robotics, switchers, digital audio consoles, 2110 routing and multiviewer systems.
  • Proficient in Overdrive automation, ENPS , iNews, XPression graphics, and studio rundown coding workflows.
  • Familiarity with Dante audio routing, robotic camera systems, and DMX lighting technologies.
  • Comfortable operating control rooms with live switching, media playout, intercom communications, and rundown integration.
  • Strong understanding of digital media formats, video signal flow, and studio set safety protocols.
  • Experience supervising student workers and providing instruction in studio operations is highly desirable.
  • AVID Instructor certification preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Direct live and pre-recorded student productions, including newscasts and extracurricular content.
  • Guide students in production planning and execution while maintaining broadcast quality and safety.
  • Prepare studios and control rooms for daily use by students and faculty. This includes configuring Over Drive automation, robotic cameras, audio boards, lighting systems, and newsroom software integration.
  • Supervise part-time staff and student workers.
  • Provide training and feedback while modeling professional studio operations in a teaching-focused environment.
  • Support and train students in real-time during broadcast labs and projects.
  • Troubleshoot control room systems and ensure successful delivery of assignments and studio coursework.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and basic repairs on studio equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for escalated service or upgrades.
  • Provide technical support and operations oversight for Sports Production Studio shows and other co-curricular productions.
  • Ensure proper configuration and quality assurance.
