Position OverviewBarrientos Design & Consulting is seeking an Architectural Designer to assist our team with projects from schematic design through construction. Responsibilities include programming, design development, document production, consultant coordination, collecting user data, and producing programming and facility studies.
This role may also include involvement in site visits and inspections, marketing, RFP development, business development strategy, specification writing, light project management duties, schedule drafting, intern mentoring, and more.
We anticipate this role being suited for an emerging professional with two‑plus years of experience. This position provides a strong foundation for professional advancement, career exploration, licensure, and the development of a well‑rounded architectural career.
Core Responsibilities- Support the design process by preparing conceptual drawings, diagrams, and presentation materials that clearly communicate design intent and respond to project goals.
- Assist in developing schematic design documents, contributing to layout studies, space planning, and early material research under close supervision.
- Produce detailed design development and construction drawings using Revit in accordance with firm standards and best practices.
- Coordinate and maintain digital Building Information Models (BIM), ensuring information is accurate, organized, and consistent across all sheets and disciplines.
- Participate in internal design and coordination meetings, taking notes, tracking action items, and assisting in implementing design revisions promptly.
- Prepare renderings and visual materials for client presentations, public meetings, and marketing submissions using digital and hand‑drawing techniques.
- Assist in preparing material schedules, organizing information to support senior staff in decision‑making and documentation.
- Support consultant coordination by updating drawing sets, reviewing markups, and communicating revisions to external teams when directed by supervisors.
- Participate in construction administration by organizing submittals, processing RFIs, and attending field visits for observational learning.
- Provide research and drafting assistance for proposal materials, case studies, and precedent investigations that inform design direction.
- Degree in Architecture (Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Bachelor of Architecture, or Master of Architecture).
