Location: New York
Senior 3D Designer – Contract position for 3-6 months
We are looking for a super capable New York based Senior 3D Designer able to work on a variety of industry leading experiential projects covering interior architecture, exhibition and event design. A deep knowledge of current trends and passion for design, combined with inherent understanding of materials and fabrication is required.
This is a contract position for 3-6 months. This role is focused on projects mid to late 2026 and requires a combination of time in the office and remote working.
Spatial & Experience Design:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of spatial design principles to create impactful, innovative environments within a variety of environments spanning fixed facility to event design.
- Possess a good understanding in detailing, materials and fabrication processes.
- Develop 3D concepts, layouts, and designs that align with creative briefs and brand narratives.
- Produce high-quality design intent drawings, and technical documentation to communicate ideas effectively.
- Create quality comprehensive technical drawing packages, using Vectorworks, including plans, elevations and detailing.
- Create high-quality renders ideally using Cinema 4D.
- Work with 2D designers and motion specialists to integrate graphic elements into 3D environments
- Lead discussions and presentations with clients and internal teams
- Work closely with UX designers, 2D designers and Strategists to develop holistic creative solutions
- Delegate to other members of the 3D team as required
- Liaise with fabricators, engineers, and production specialists to ensure designs are technically feasible and meet production requirements
- Support the team by preparing internal and client presentations, delivering visually compelling design assets
- Maintain quality control over multiple projects, ensuring work is delivered on time and to a high standard
- Potentially seeing project through to completion onsite.
- At least 5 years of experience in 3D design, interior architecture, exhibition, or environmental design
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Interior, Architecture or Environmental Design
- Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in spatial storytelling, brand experiences, and high-quality visualizations
- Exceptional design aesthetic, strong knowledge of materials, fabrication techniques, and production processes
- Ability to visualize and communicate ideas quickly
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with designers, technologists, and production specialists
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage time effectively
- Confident presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and deliver high-quality work under pressure
- Enthusiastic and open-minded, with a passion for innovation and exploring new technologies
- Expertise in 3D modelling and rendering software, including Cinema 4D or similar modelling packages
- Vectorworks experience (for technical drawings)
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop for post-production)
