Job Title:
Interior Designer
As an Interior Designer, you will be responsible for executing project deliverables efficiently and creatively, ensuring they align with project schedules as set forth by the Project Manager and Senior Designer. This role requires the ability to generate design iterations, communicate ideas through hand sketches, and translate conceptual designs into 3D models using Sketch Up and Enscape. You will work closely with both the creative and technical teams to ensure all design concepts are accurately implemented.
Responsibilities- Execute project deliverables within the allotted time frame as per project schedule.
- Create design iterations and options for review.
- Communicate ideas effectively using hand sketches.
- Study and interpret plans, elevations, and details in CAD.
- Convert conceptual designs into 3D models using Sketch Up and Enscape.
- Utilize Bluebeam for internal and external communication.
- Redline renderings, models, and prototypes to align with design concepts.
- Manage tasks independently under the direction of the Senior Designer.
- Delegate project tasks and information to ensure timely delivery.
- Communicate with clients to distribute project deliverables and seek information as needed.
- Train and mentor junior designers and design assistants.
- Review and coordinate intern schedules with Project Managers.
- Bachelor and/or Master in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in an interiors firm.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with schematic design and design development.
- Experience in FF&E selections.
- Completed 2+ custom restaurant projects.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality, custom design, and space planning.
- Ability to train and mentor junior designers.
- Portfolio including custom restaurants and hospitality work.
This role is based in a vibrant, open office located on the outskirts of West Loop. The office is described as lively, dog-friendly, and features frequent in-person meetings with clients and vendors. Employees work in-office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work from home on Fridays. The team enjoys outings to a nearby brewery and participates in an annual summer retreat.
The work schedule typically begins between 8:00-9:00 AM, offering flexible hours for those commuting from the suburbs. The average workweek is 42-45 hours, with busier periods during deadlines. The company structure includes creative and technical teams, with creative teams focusing on FF&E specifications and technical teams on millwork and furniture detailing.
Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.06 - $40.86/hr.
