About the Role

HC Solutions Group is recruiting for an Architectural Designer Lead to join a well-established design firm specializing in residential and light commercial projects in San Diego. This is a permanent, fully remote position for a design professional who can lead projects, support junior staff, and drive high-quality design and documentation from concept through permitting.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on design work, project ownership, and collaborating closely with clients while working remotely.

The firm is especially well known for its expertise in Accessory Dwelling Units and has a strong reputation for guiding clients through design, permitting, and construction documentation efficiently and successfully.

• Lead architectural design and documentation for residential and light commercial projects
• Oversee project development from concept through permit-ready construction documents
• Produce and review drawings using Revit and AutoCAD
• Coordinate with consultants, municipalities, and internal team members
• Support and mentor junior designers and drafters
• Ensure projects meet local zoning, building codes, and permitting requirements
• Communicate directly with clients to manage design intent and expectations

• 5+ years of professional architectural design experience
• Strong background in residential and light commercial projects
• Proven experience with Revit and AutoCAD
• Familiarity with San Diego building codes, zoning, and permitting processes
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a remote environment
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
