Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental / 3D Designer to lead the conceptualization and execution of in-store décor and architectural graphics for our retail environments. This role blends 2D and 3D creative development, technical design, architectural coordination, and vendor collaboration. The ideal candidate has a strong visual communication skillset, can articulate design intent clearly to internal stakeholders, and can translate conceptual ideas into accurate, build-ready documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept Development & Creative Direction:
    Lead in-store conceptual design projects from initial strategy through execution.
  • Develop concept inspiration boards, sketches, storyboards, 3D renderings, and visual narratives.
  • Present design concepts to internal design teams and executive leadership with clarity and persuasion.
  • Ensure all concepts align with brand standards and strategic objectives.

3D + 2D Design Production

  • Produce high-quality 3D models, renderings, and environmental graphics for décor and fixture programs.
  • Create 2D graphic layouts, presentation decks, and prototype materials for review and approval.
  • Partner with print buying teams to develop cost-effective décor solutions.

Project Management

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Coordinate design presentations, stakeholder reviews, and cross-functional communication.
  • Support store teams by responding to décor-related requests and providing design solutions.

Technical Documentation & Construction Coordination

  • Interpret construction drawings and verify accuracy against design intent.
  • Prepare production-ready working drawings, elevations, templates, and vendor submittals.
  • Review architectural drawings, as-built conditions, and shop drawings for compliance with brand standards.
  • Conduct field measurements and surveys for architectural graphics, fixtures, and décor installations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Industry Awareness

  • Partner with internal architects, external consultants, and third-party vendors to develop project-specific solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of current retail design trends including fixtures, finishes, lighting, signage, materials, and fabrication methods.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven portfolio demonstrating 2D and 3D conceptual design, environmental graphics, and visualization.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup & 3D modeling/rendering tools.
  • Ability to translate conceptual work into detailed, production-ready documents.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to pitch ideas confidently.
  • Strong project and time-management capabilities.
  • Experience in structural or industrial design.
  • Familiarity with large-format printing, fabrication processes, or retail rollout programs.
  • Ability to travel domestically on a quarterly basis, as needed.
