Mark Thomas has an immediate opening for a Landscape Designer II to join the Landscape Architecture and Urban Design team! The role of the Landscape Designer II is to perform project tasks that contribute to the completion of a landscape architectural project or a landscape architectural component of an engineering project. General responsibilities include a variety of tasks towards the preparation of plans, construction documents, drawings, exhibits, models, renderings, reports, and estimates.

Responsibilities
  • Completes work tasks and assignments on time and within budget parameters as determined by Project Manager or Division Manager
  • Prepares project plans and drawings, other graphical presentations & models, documents for bid packages, estimates and quantities, as assigned and directed
  • Supports preparations for proposals and presentations to potential and existing clients including presentational graphics, preliminary designs, and details
  • Provides technical and field support during construction phase as necessary
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and an ability to manipulate field survey data
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of a current engineering software and follows drafting and file naming standards
  • Conveys technical information utilizing clear verbal and written skills
  • Supports landscape architects and supervising project manager in the completion of projects within scope, budget, and schedule
  • Demonstrates a dedication to the organization and the profession through participation in training activities & professional organizations/networking
Qualifications
  • BLA from an accredited program in landscape architecture, MS in engineering a plus
  • 2-5+ years progressive experience
  • Actively preparing for licensure in the State of California
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Hand graphic skills and irrigation design knowledge preferred
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work & collaborate in a team environment
  • Possesses a positive attitude and desire to learn
  • Candidates will need to submit 4-5 pages of work samples with a description of their role in a project.

  • The offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
