Our dynamic collaborative team is looking for a Project Designer/Architect who can contribute to our vibrant design studio with curiosity, creativity, and initiative. This position is ideal for someone passionate about urban housing, with experience in residential and multifamily typologies, eager to grow within a small firm setting, and motivated to help shape the future of Seattle’s neighborhoods, and the greater Puget Sound Region.
YouHave:
- A professional degree on the path to licensure (or licensed) with 3–5 years of professional experience in housing in Seattle.
- A strong interest in housing and urban housing typologies, specifically those explored at b9, residential, townhouses, apartments, and missing middle solutions
- A sense of ownership and accountability for your work, whether contributing to a team effort or leading portions of a project.
- Demonstrated ability to solve architectural and technical problems effectively.
- A strong sense of design curiosity and initiative to your work, balancing independence with collaboration
- The ability to prioritize multiple, competing project demands and plan your own work schedule to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and an open-minded, collaborative attitude toward teamwork and feedback.
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong graphic representation through renders, diagrams, and layout clarity.
- Experience collaborating on design processes or a clear understanding of how you would engage collaboratively with team members.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Archi
CAD, Revit, or similar BIM software (training available for Archi
CAD). - Strong design and technical documentation abilities.
- Working knowledge of the Seattle Building Code and land use processes is a plus, but curiosity and initiative to learn are equally valued.
Responsibilities Include:
- Contributing to design concepts, presentations, and documentation under the guidance of an Associate or Principal.
- Developing renderings, diagrams, and presentation layouts that communicate design ideas effectively.
- Participating in client and consultant meetings, and contributing to internal team design reviews and critiques
- Coordinating with consultants, contributing to permit documentation, and supporting projects through various phases of development.
- Engaging in code research and dialogue about housing innovation, urban design, and sustainability.
