Mid- to Senior-Level Product Designer (Contract, Remote – U.S.)

UpTop is seeking an experienced Product Designer to join one of our client’s cross‑functional product teams on a long‑term, embedded basis. This is opportunity to shape impactful digital experiences alongside a dedicated team that includes product managers, UX designers, a research manager, and software engineers.

As a partner designer through UpTop, you’ll apply a human‑centered, data‑informed approach to drive clarity, alignment, and quality within an agile product development environment. You’ll collaborate closely with both client stakeholders and the UpTop team to bring thoughtful, well‑crafted solutions to life.

• Collaborate within a cross‑functional client team (Product Management, Research, UX, and Development) to design and deliver high‑quality product experiences.
• Balance user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints throughout the design process.
• Translate research insights into user flows, interaction models, and intuitive interface designs.
• Create mid- to high‑fidelity designs and interactive prototypes using Figma. Leverage and evolve design systems to ensure visual and functional consistency across products.
• Work with the dedicated Research Manager to plan, observe, and synthesize usability studies and user feedback.
• Deliver detailed design specifications and collaborate with developers during implementation.
• Present design rationale clearly to stakeholders, fostering alignment and shared understanding.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, curiosity, and collaboration within the team.

• Independent contractor or freelancer with excellent communication and client partnership skills.
• 5+ years of experience in product design (UX/UI) for web and mobile applications.
• Strong proficiency in user‑centered design principles, design systems, and iterative design workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to work in agile or lean product environments, ideally within cross‑functional teams.
• Strong visual design fundamentals (layout, typography, color) and attention to detail.
• Comfortable engaging with user research and data to inform design decisions.
• Self‑directed with strong collaboration skills—able to contribute confidently while supporting shared goals.
• Experience in agency, consultancy, or embedded client roles preferred.

• This is a 40hr/wk contract opportunity, not a full‑time employment position.
• Work is fully remote (U.S.
  
  -based only);
  Seattle‑based residents a plus.
• You must be authorized to work in the U.S. We cannot sponsor or assume sponsorship of employment visas.
• Experience working remotely with distributed teams.
• 5+ years of experience in UX/UI or Product Design roles.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end design process and outcomes.
• Proficiency in Figma.
