Interior Designer (Hybrid, Chicago, IL)
Job OverviewThe Interior Designer will be responsible for developing and implementing design standards, selecting appropriate furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), finishes, and other design elements. The role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to create strategic design plans for both internal and external spaces. It also requires coordinating conceptual designs for executive and finance review/approval, managing workload effectively, and providing subject matter expertise for new or evolving initiatives.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement design standards and select appropriate FF&E, finishes, and design elements in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Coordinate conceptual designs for executive and finance review/approval.
- Develop strategic design plans for internal and external spaces and deliver new initiatives.
- Manage time and workload effectively, prioritizing tasks based on leadership guidance.
- Lead space planning, programming, and utilization calculations for owned or maintained facilities.
- Review and understand architectural plans from third‑party architects and engineers.
- Provide expertise in design for new or evolving initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
- 8–12 years of professional experience in interior design and architecture.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Interior Architecture.
- Proficiency in InDesign with experience on workplace projects.
- Skills in interior design, interior architecture, schematic design, FF&E, material selection, ADA compliance, space planning, test fitting, presentation, Revit, Bluebeam, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Experience preparing construction documents and reviewing architectural plans.
- Experience in multiple typologies, with preference for workplace, aviation, and industrial projects.
- Strong communication skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- NCIDQ certification preferred.
- Experience with resource development such as creating resources for finishes, Revit templates, and design guidelines.
- Exposure to larger clients/accounts with set standards.
The position is based at the headquarters located within Willis Tower and operates on a hybrid schedule with two days remote work. The Corporate Real Estate team designs and develops spaces across global hubs and stations. The team culture resembles a start‑up where everyone acts as a generalist. This long‑term contract position offers exposure to large‑scale projects and the opportunity to work on diverse spaces such as office spaces, break rooms, lounges, and hangars.

Pay and BenefitsPay range: $43.27 – $52.88 per hour.
