A well-established commercial construction supplier is seeking an experienced Division 8 Detailer to support ongoing projects through accurate door, frame, and hardware submittals and shop drawings. This role plays a critical part in ensuring project documentation quality, code compliance, and cost efficiency while supporting project teams throughout the scheduling and detailing lifecycle.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of Division 8 products, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduce accurate door and frame submittals and shop drawings using scheduling and detailing software, spreadsheets, plans, specifications, and estimating documents
Develop complete hardware sets with correct formatting, sequencing, headings, and templating requirements
Review door openings to determine appropriate assemblies that meet applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
Ensure compliance with FSC policies, Buy American Act (BAA), ADA, and relevant building codes
Organize and maintain complete project documentation within project management systems
Complete the full scheduling process, including job costing entries and submittal revisions
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities throughout the detailing and scheduling process
Stay current on industry codes, products, and best practices through internal training and manufacturer or industry events
Apply new knowledge to continuously improve quality, efficiency, and accuracy
Serve as a technical resource for internal teams and provide cross-functional support as needed
Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in detailing, drafting, or product scheduling
Degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred, but not required
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with scheduling and database software preferred
Familiarity with Protech and Smartsheet is a plus
Strong mechanical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail
Solid math skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and interpretation of technical drawings
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven customer service mindset and problem-solving ability
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and consistently meet deadlines
